Geneva Keller’s Honey Creek Ranch

Geneva Rogers Keller was born and raised on Honey Creek Ranch in Mason County, Texas. Her parents were John Luther and Minnie Eckert Rogers. She had a sister and a brother, Jeanette Rogers Schneider, and Ira Pascal Rogers. Geneva Rogers graduated from Mason High School and the Johnson Academy of Beauty in San Antonio. After her marriage to Charlie Keller, they lived in St. Louis, Missouri.

Mrs. Keller and her sister inherited their family ranch, and when her sister passed away she left her portion of the ranch to Geneva. Mrs. Keller loved her Mason County heritage, and after she inherited the land from her sister, she met with Mason ISD school officials to inform them of her plans to donate her land to the school district for the purpose of providing funds for the higher education of the students of Mason.
After her death the land transfer took place and a corporation was created to manage this generous gift and form an organization to coordinate, encourage and assist educational functions and activities by granting scholarships in the Mason Independent School District. Thus, The Mason ISD Scholarship Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, was born. While the name of the Foundation contains “Mason ISD,” it is a separate entity apart from the school district.
